Carly support. Is anyone on duty?

Frustrated Carly user to be certain. For 5 years I’ve subscribed to Carly’s endless demand for more money to upgrade this, buy that, you need a new adapter, etc, but when I have a technical question, the response is smiley face Emoji, and a one line response including a link to something I’ve already read, trying to solve the problem.

I simply want to code my mirrors to automatically fold when I shut off the car. Pushing the button works as expected, but toggling the mirror codes in both CAS and FRM fail to give me the desired response.

I'm IOS handicapped and too old to go back to Windows. Is a rusty razor blade my only “out”.

Any suggestions.
Ciao,
Dick Casey

In my experience, some coding items in Carly just do not work (or do not save.)

It is very possible, auto-folding the mirrors when turning off the car is not possible with your model/year. Even if there is an option listed for it. BMW software coding is usually several years ahead of hardware capabilities at the time. Future planning.

One of the items I had issue with was PDC disable on a 530xi. The only thing it would disable is the auto-off when shifting out of reverse. Far more annoying than the failed sensor.

I have had to resort to NCSExpert to code some of the options. Sometimes, even with coding the option does not behave as expected.

But in fairness, Carly is trying to be all things to all people, (many BMW models, options and several brands.) This is never going to work out well. You cannot please everyone. Far too many combinations and options. They cannot possibly have an example of every car, model and options they support, and try every possible combination.

Your feedback may improve something going forward, or cause that coding option to be removed.

Carly is a 'quick and dirty,' way of doing many things. Not all of them well. On my 525, the battery voltage shows up as .20 volts. Not very useful.

Remember, many of these coding options are from trial and error from many sources. What works on my car, may never work on yours.

I don't want to give Carly a pass on this, but it helps to understand the limitations and work with them. YMMV

And for the record, not many companies have good customer service any more. There is still a few, but not in the technology sector.

Sorry but I'm not going to give Carly a fairness excuse. I've been using the product long before they went to the subscription model and purchased their "pro" version for both BMW and VAG from back then. All the updates and upgrades I was promised that I was grandfathered into the full version for both. However, now with it being a combined product instead of two separate apps, when I have issues, like it not working currently, I'm being told I have to subscribe to get the "combined" app to work.

Regarding the programming of the mirrors to close when the engine shuts off, I never found how to or if you can. But I do have mine programmed through Carly to close when the doors are locked/alarm enabled and open when unlocked/alarm disabled.

Haven't had an issue with anything staying programmed including through battery, and alternator replacement.

Carly sucks. I've been a user since 2014. At first, they were okay. Now, and especially since they went to the subscription model, fuck them. I, too, was promised the full version experience but even I'm being nickel and dimed. Fortunately, I accomplished most of my "coding" before they decided to fuck over their loyal and early adopters but the new version of the app is a gimmicky and stupid way to interact with your vehicle. The very problem is, Carly is trying to be all things to all people, with a multitude of vehicles, and all multitides of makes and models. Their product sucks because it doesn't have to be good. They've increased their subscription and product base to the extent that they only have to be good enough for those few simplistic owners and can tell the more serious or long-time users to go screw.

Their support sucks. I paid some $60 for the "full" app seven years ago and get wholly substandard support when I need it. I wouldn't expect anything more for a lowly subscriber.
