you need to run a reset procedure in ISTA-D to clear the ram in the DME that holds the calibration information on the solenoids. I ran into this same issue after replacing these today, after the reset procedure I could continue diagnosing the misfire. i will make a new post updating with the procedure instruction I believe these green orings are too large in diameter and I replaced them with some slightly thinner from a metric oring kit, and greased. Solenoids should always go in firmly but shouldn't need to be pressed with force that requires a lever or a mallet, that's just going to stretch and distort potentially destroy the soft oring.
TO the bro who installed the solenoid with a hockeystick, you know that's not coming out again without destroying it.
I only did the left bank, but my coworker did the right bank. I'm still getting misfires on cylinder four but I haven't yet checked on the work. Maybe my timing chain is off slightly as well, so I have the alignment tool on order.

The oring size I used on the solenoids; id 33mm thickness 3.5mm which was from the typical chinese universal oring kits. The oring is the right size to keep out oil drips but not encumber the installation process.

SUBJECT
N62TU: ISTA Service Function for DME "RAM Backup"
MODEL
E60 (5 Series Sedan)
E63 (6 Series Coupe)
E64 (6 Series Convertible)
E65 (7 Series Sedan)
E66 (7 Series Sedan LWB)
E70 (X5)
With the N62TU engine
SITUATION
The ISTA Service Function test plan should be performed to clear stored values in the DME RAM memory after
repairs are completed, in the following situations:
VANOS or engine-related repairs if any of the following faults cannot be cleared:
2A90 - Exhaust camshaft, tooth offset to crankshaft
2A91 - Exhaust camshaft 2, tooth offset to crankshaft
2A8A - Inlet VANOS, adaptation stop
2A8B – Inlet VANOS, adaptation stop 2
2A8C - Exhaust VANOS, adaptation stop
2A8D – Exhaust VANOS, adaptation stop 2
2A8E - Inlet camshaft, tooth offset to crankshaft
2A8F – Inlet camshaft 2, tooth offset to crankshaft
The engine oil level display continues to show as overfilled even after being corrected. This is also
described in SI B12 05 07.
PROCEDURE
This test plan can be found in ISTA, using the following path:
Service Functions
05 Maintenance and Pre-Delivery Check / CBS reset / CBS functionality, engine oil, disturbed

After completing the test plan activation, turn the ignition OFF for at least one minute, and then back ON again.
Clear the DME fault memory and test drive vehicle to verify effectiveness of the repairs.

Alternately, can use tool32 to delete the ram backup.
