F10 Steering wheel retrofit question... how to wire heated steering function?
For those who have done the F10 sport steering wheel into our e70…. How did you wire the heated steering wheel? The f10 steering wheel has a 4 pin connector while the e70 has a 3 pin connector.
All the other buttons work fine on the steering wheel. However my shift paddles do not. My 2012 X5 35i M sport came with shift paddles. So the f10 wheel I bought also had paddles. However when you hit the + paddle, nothing happens. When I click the - paddle it shifts up instead of down. Any ideas? And yes I do have the bimmer retrofit adapter installed. Wife's F10 heated wheel button is below the shifting stalk on the column.
I'm curious about the difference as well. She doesn't have paddle shift so clearly a different wheel.

So I asked the custom retrofit garage about my shift paddle situation. They said that it’s because of the resistors used in the new shift paddles. They have different values compared to my stock steering wheel. They said my - shift paddle has the resistor similar to the + paddle on my stock e70 and that’s why my - shifts up instead of down. I would have to change out the resistors in order to fix this. Someone else mentioned that he swapped his paddles out from an f30 and that worked.
As far as the heated steering wheel connection, I found that pins 1 and 4 (red and black) are for power and that the 2 middle black wires (pins 2 and 3) are for temp sensors. I assume on the 3 pin connector on my clock spring that the yellow is for + power and the brown is for - power. Anyone know what the middle green wire would be? |
