Today's iDrive has so many voice commands you need 2 sheets of paper as reference to know what they are. Going to print the 5 series list out this week. Should be fun.

iDrive Voice Commands

Courtesy E60.net.

This pdf hasn't been updated, but is easier to deal with than the back of the manual. For those who haven't seen it, take a look at what iDrive lets you do by voice commands (and this is only in English....). Incidentally, it is 13 pages. I noticed one that sounds like my daughter....."Never Mind", instead of saying "Exit".

A side comment: This site is the undisputed leader in X5 information. However, the E70 is going to be based on the E60 platform, and we will have some catching up to do, between comfort access, iDrive, and other options that have been the subject of much debate elsewhere, but not here due to the fact that the E53 didn't subject us to them. Should be interesting.

It will be a learning experience for all of us, that's for sure... But, hey, that's what we're for, isn't it? That, and Freaky Friday.

On any SUV, except those humongous Denali ones or so, 3rd row seating is pointless. When we have to test drive vechiles, the 3rd row was horrible, its for small children only, so its really pointless, unless you have kids, then a van would be more suitable

Hopefully nobody pooped on Bangle's head. If the niche that the Cayenne has carved out for Porsche is any measure, BMW will not blow the buzz with a neutered X5. I think we're getting chaffed as regards the spy shots.

only real problem with the next X5 will be price IMO. The style will grow on the public, much like the 3 and 5 series have. I put a note into my dealer that gave me the nov date and dimensions, he will send me pics as soon as he gets them.

I agree completely. The E90 and E60 style issues have pretty much gone quiet. The price will be the thing to get over.

Picking my next car, I priced out a 530xiT, then a 550 sedan (both with M-sport packages, and most options), and suddenly the $126,000 CDN for the M5 didn't look so ridiculous anymore. That showed me how much prices are moving up. Still don't think I can justify the M5 as a daily driver though....

I agree with you on the point that the styling of the X5 will grow on people. Pricing, I believe, will depend on who BMW views as direct competition. In the Sport/Luxury suv genre, I believe it is the ML500, Range Rover Sport, Toureg, non turbo Cayennes, and to some degree the MDX and Infinity FX45(?). BMW, it seems to me would be unable to extend their price point too far beyond that. I am aware that I could be way off base, but I predict no more than a 6-8% increase in base price. The new is will most certainly scare the hell out of 80k, but i don't see a well equiped mid-level X5 being even close to that.

Mike
