Offical pricing announced

ALL NEW BMW X5 TO BE PRICED FROM $46,595
Second Generation of the Original Sports Activity Vehicle
Arrives in US Showrooms this November

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – August 14, 2006… The all-new 2007 BMW X5 Sports Activity Vehicle arrives in US showrooms this November with a base MSRP of $46,595 for the six-cylinder X5 3.0si. The V8 X5 4.8i will be priced from $55,195. Both prices include destination and handling.
Both models feature significant enhancements over their predecessors. The X5 3.0si features BMW’s innovative 3.0-liter magnesium/aluminum inline six-cylinder engine with Valvetronic technology. It produces 260 hp at 6,600 rpm and 225 lb-ft of torque at 2,750 rpm. This represents a 35 gain in horsepower and an 11 lb-ft increase in torque over the previous X5 3.0i. The 4.8-liter V8 in the X5 4.8i, which also features Valvetronic technology, produces 350hp at 6,300 rpm and 350 lb-ft of torque between 3,400-3,800 rpm. This is an increase in horsepower of 35 and an increase in torque of 26 lb.-ft. Both models come standard with a new six-speed STEPTRONIC automatic transmission for optimum responsiveness and efficiency.
Both new models offer significantly better value with more standard features, particularly on the X5 3.0si, as well as enhanced package content for both models. Xenon Adaptive headlights are standard in both models, whereas Xenon headlights were previously optional on the X5 3.0i. While a five-speed STEPTRONIC automatic transmission was optional on the outgoing six-cylinder model, the next-generation six-speed STEPTRONIC automatic is standard on both the new X5 3.0si and the X5 4.8i. The X5 3.0si features standard 18-inch wheels and all-season tires, compared to the standard 17-inch wheels and tires of its predecessor.
Both models feature a 205-watt, 12-speaker, multi-channel audio system as standard equipment. The system features subwoofers under the front seats, an MP3 compatible in-dash CD player and an auxiliary input jack.
The option packages for both models have been enhanced over the first-generation X5s.
The Premium Package now includes the following new items:
·Auto Dimming interior AND exterior mirrors (new for the X5 3.0si)
·Compass Mirror (new for the X5 3.0si)
·Universal Garage Door Opener
·BMW Assist now included for four years instead of the previous one
Included with BMW Assist is Teleservice, for the ultimate in service convenience, as well as Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity. The premium package still includes the Panoramic Moonroof and, on the X5 3.0si, leather upholstery.
The Sport Package now includes new items such as19-inch wheels with all-season tires and Active Roll Stabilization combined with Electronic Damping Control. On the X5 4.8i the wheels and tires may be upgraded to 20-inch wheels with performance tires in combination with the sports package.
The Rear Climate Package now includes a true 4-zone climate control system with separate left/right temperature and fan-speed settings for the rear-seat passengers. The package also includes Privacy Glass and rear side sunshades.
New packages for the new BMW X5 include the Active Ventilated Seat Package and the Technology Package. The Active Ventilated Seat Package includes an Active Seat for the driver, Ventilated Front Seats, and multi-contour front seats with lumbar support. The Technology Package includes BMW’s on-board Navigation System, Park Distance Control and the new Rearview Camera.
There are a number of significant new options available on the new X5, most notably a third-row seat for seating up to seven. Also available is a Rear Seat Entertainment system with a factory-installed DVD player with an eight-inch monitor. Active Steering is available for the first time on a vehicle with all-wheel drive. Comfort Access and Head-up display are also available.
Sirius Satellite Radio is available as a factory option in combination with either the standard sound system or the optional 600-watt, 16-speaker Premium Sound System which includes 5.1 Dolby surround sound.
The new BMW X5 will be offered with BMW Ultimate ServiceTM, a suite of services that includes the BMW Maintenance Program (formerly called Full Maintenance), Roadside Assistance, the New Vehicle Limited Warranty and BMW AssistTM with Teleservice. BMW AssistTM is available as a free standing option or as part of the Premium Package.
The all-new 2007 BMW X5 will make its world debut at the Los Angeles International Auto Show in November 2006.

Soon.

Dealers should already have the brochures right now -or about to get them. distribution is going on .

Also car configurator will be soon available on www.bmwusa.com

Mineral Green will be available with production start of another new BMW vehicle in Aprill 2007 , like Platinum Bronze will come with the start of E93 3-series cabrio production in December 2006.

Thanks for the info Scott.
Looks like the new 4.8 full loaded will be priced right around the current 4.4 fully loaded.

But yet some of us do not want or need a Navigation system in the car - so I for one am incredibly pleased that we are not being charged for something I don't want.

This is exactly the problem. They've added MORE packages! It's like a thousand paper cuts. Just tell me what it costs up front for a fully loaded version!

Premium Package
Rear Climate Package
Technology Package
Sport Package
Rear Seat Entertainment (Package)
Active Ventilated Seat (Package)
Active Steering (Package)
Premium Sound (Package)
Comfort Access (Package)
Head-up display (Package)

And then, some "packages" will be contingent on others to top it off. 55k for the 4.8 will turn into 70+ in a hurry.

Thanks for the info. As expected, BMW have added the cost of the autobox into the "standard" OTR price. It will be interesting to see exactly what other features come as standard. I think I'll wait for the Sport model to make sure I get some decent sized rims. I've narrowed my selection down to 2 SAV's, one thing's for sure it's going to be close run between the X5 Sport diesel and the Lexus RX400h. Just now the X5's ahead because it will be brand new out the box, whilst the Lex must be close to a re-design. Late 2007 for the M Sport - can I wait that long????

Anybody know how much of a premium BMW will put on the X5 hybrid??
