It was suggested to me that I find someone willing to take their car to an autologic dealer for a file dump with the correct code file. Can anybody that has the zoom camera mode do that?

Available all times when backing up. Use 'normal' rear view camera until you are about 5 feet from trailer then select zoom. A green line projects as you turn the wheel to show you how you will angle into/at tongue. Great feature. Thanks BMW.

Seattle area - camera zoom mode help needed

Dealer in Bellevue WA does not know how to activate this zoom mode .. they suggested I talk to BMW North America and ask them if my 2012 has this feature ... anyone in the Seattle area who can help me with this? I'm seriously thinking about doing hte coding myself, with the software and instructions I found in this forum ... even though I did not see any mods that mentioned this feature.

Claudiub, I PM'ed you the details, but I'll post it here anyway. You need to add retrofit code +AHMU to the vehicle order, so the car knows that it has the trailermodule (assuming that you have installed the trailer module). Adding this retrofit code will code all the individual modules for you including adding the zoom mode to the camera.

If the dealer is doing it, see page 12 here http://www.kneb.net/bmw/E70/Trailer%...-%20towbar.pdf

Hi all, new member here...

I would be very interested to hear from someone who has had luck with this. I just purchased a new 2012 3.5d and had the dealer (BMW Seattle) add the OEM hitch. I don't see the hitch option on the rearview camera.

Thanks!

sorry to hear so many are struggling with the software and programming. What a great feature but apparently challenged in execution, at least at the dealer level.

Info from BMW US Tech Support (via dealer Shop Foreman):

We have determined that the “trailer hitch view” that is mentioned on the bmwusa.com accessories website (and widely discussed in various bmw online forums) is not an option on your late model X5.

This is a feature that was available for early production X5’s with the CCC systems, your vehicle is a CIC system and utilizes a better camera. Your system functions as designed with all available features.

BMW NA will be correcting this information on their website sometime in the future.

Thank you for posting this! I just had BMW seattle install the trailer hitch kit on my 2012 X5 35d and picked up the car today, I am also missing the camera zoom mode with that trailer icon. Sounds like the late model X5's do not have this feature anymore? That's too bad as i would assume this helps when backing up to hook up the trailer.

So how do we know for sure the programming was done correctly by the dealer? I'm not satisfied with them just telling me that everything was coded correctly. I'd like to know if there is some way to "prove" that the vehicle has been coded correctly? As i understand it activates some kind of fancy sway control, etc... would hate to miss out on this feature because the dealer doesnt know what they're doing.
