Thanks.
Someone suggested that adjustable ride height only makes sense on an SUV. Which might be true. But the Mercedes SL has it, probably for a purpose other than off-roading. |

the porsche cayenne even gets greater ground clearance than a HUMMER H2 with it's adjustable ride height. Hummer should be embarrassed about that. i would really like to find a way to confirm this for the 2007 x5... otherwise they shouldn't even bother selling these imo (ok, that may sound drastic, but in some ways, it's true). |

i don't want it 'eventually', i want it right away. it's ridiculous for them to offer before, and then take it away... and then return with it again! stupid.

This is nothing. Visit a Mercedes forum to read some major grumbling. Many options are in short supply when those cars launch.

Sorry for not realizing that the existing and previous years X5 had the adjustable ride height. I do not own a X5 and spoke out of line. I am very interested and will more than likely get the new X5 when it is realeased. I want all the bells and whistles myself including the adjustable ride height.
I currently own a '04 Range Rover. This new X5 will be replacing it. ![]() Curtis |

E70 will come with optional (??? - it depends on model / package/ market) rear-axle only air suspension with self-leveling. It will be available from launch (end of March) in Europe, so I'm sure US market is getting it too.
Mind that E70 has almost identical suspension to E65 7-series: front - double wishbone, rear - IV Integral, Adaptive Drive (Dynamic Drive active roll stabilization + EDC Electronic Dumper Control) with Sport mode, self-leveling rear air suspension. So, no adjustable ride height with also front-axle air suspension for the time being. Adaptive Drive with Sport mode + self-leveling rear air suspension + Active Steering is really more than enough for ultra-dynamic driving without compromising ride comfort; for soft off-roading; for towing; for loading the car; etc. E70 (despite some features are different / missing) is definitely not inferior to E53 but much superior. It's a pity Dynamic xDrive will not be offered right now (will debut in X6; E70 will likely get it with the mid-lifecycle facelift). |

bmw should be ashamed if they don't include adjustable ride height. the one area this car sucks (and I know, i've owned it for 5 years), is ground clearance in deep snow and other similar situations. in a boston winter, a 2 foot snow storm (or even less) can easily produce drifts that are challenging for the x5 because of ground clearance. an extra inch or more can often be helpful and i don't see why they would take it out. even the cayenne has it for years and produces more ground clearance than a hummer 2!!
also... what exactly is 'dynamic xdrive'?? |

You have the option of buying a nice used E53, or any one of the many competitive products that have adjustable ride height. Or, you could just try a vehicle with X-drive and see if it goes any better than your five year old E53 without X-drive. You may be surprised.

The "arm chair" management here has been amusing to say the least.
I'll reserve my criticism until after I drive the finished product. |
