The "arm chair" management here has been amusing to say the least.

I'll reserve my criticism until after I drive the finished product.

i have no doubt that the car will drive amazing... better than any other SUV. but in certain situations SUV's often need MORE ground clearance and it either CAN or CAN NOT raise it's height to get that clearance. it has nothing to do with how the car drives.

Agree with you about the ground clearance point. To enable the X5 to drive like an E65 7-series or even an E60 M5 is one thing, but don't forget that the X5 is still a SAV. In other words, it still should maintain the features of a SAV. But it seems a bit late now. Guess potential buyers will simply have to take it or leave it and like what rooster328 said "even without it a lot of ppl will still jump all over it at lauch, if u can't live w/o it just buy another car".

Curtis do you even own an X5. How can you not know that is has been available already for like 5 years. By the way i just got back from the performance center off road course with the X5 and whoever says the X5 is no good offroad is an idiot. I did things with the X5 there that i nver thought were possible on and offroad. The offroad course they have there looks like something built for a Jeep and it took it like nothing.
please post some pics. was offroading yesterday - X5 rocks!!

I guess BMW simply realised that some of its customers are very understanding and don't mind putting up over US50k to purchase a "new generation" car which has a nice "old" gadget removed (and consider it a good thing ). To be honest, people have been asking from various forums (and marcx5 is obviously one of them) that whether this E70 still has the adjustable ride height function (since people doesn't see any reference to it from the printed materials). In other words, this feature is important and should not be neglected when the E70 is launched in Oct/Nov, IMO.

absolutely ridiculous that they do not have adjustable ride height offered in this car. almost every other (if not all) luxury suv offers it... and it DOES make a difference in certain conditions such as deep snow.

Can someone lock this thread to posting? - we have all read the pros, the cons, the whys, the why-nots, the maybes and the maynots.

I personally am fed up to the back teeth of this topic. It's pretty well established that we aren't going to get it in the 2007 model year and no amount of posting is going to change that.
