you have to put KEY FOB in slot to push START button??? ridiculous
according to the article posted in the other thread.... you have to put the "key fob" in the slot in order to push the start button. that is ridiculous. every car that has "keyless entry" allows you to keep your "key" in your pocket, from entering the car to starting it up. what's the point of keyless entry if i still have to take my 'key' out and put it in the slot????
do the other BMW's work this way? that is just stupid. if this is the case, i will wait on buying this car until stupid things like that are fixed... and then consider it further. |

dude get comfort access, then u don't need to take the key out, yes i know lexus come standard, but that's wut u get from european cars, look at the option list of porsche, bmw isn't the worst out there, it will not be standard anytime soon
if u want a car full of gudget, get a lexus, if u complain this much, i think u should just go and buy another vehicle Last edited by rooster328; 10-26-2006 at 01:05 AM. |

comfort access?? even IF you get comfort access... i think you still need to insert the FOB into the slot for the 'start' button to work.
that is NOT the way it should work. |

COMFORT ACCESS is the option that allows you to start the car with the fob in your pocket, i think u need to do more research.

Correct:
You walk to the car with the 'key' in your pocket, you DON'T push anything, just grab the doorhandle:Click, the doors unlock. You can keep the 'key' in your pocket and just push the 'Start button': Engine runs! Push Again: engine stops. Still with 'key' in your pocket. Getting out: THEN you have to click the key to lock the doors etc. Quote:

I have Comfort Access on my 330i and I never take my key out of my purse, not even to lock the doors, there ae little grooves on the door handle, I press my thumb againt them and it locks, also if I want to retract the side view mirrors I hold my thumb there about a second longer and it's done.

Thank God we don't still have a Choke lever on the car that would really rile the crowd up
I can just see it now, getting in car after having to press a button on a key fob, sitting down, inserting key into starter, pressing starter button while working "Choke" to get the right mixture to get the car started and running. Ahhhhh the joys of our youth!!!!

to me it's not worth $1000 for that convenience. It's only a $500 option on the X3, not sure why it's $500 more on the X5
