Production Time and South Carolina

Has anyone placed an order for the e70 recently? If so, do you know the production time? Also, has anyone picked up their car at the factory in South Carolina? Is it worth going there to get it?

I picked up my e92 at SC and highly recommend it. It doesn't cost anything extra (except transportation to get there) and you're treated great by BMW.
You can do a search on a quick writeup about my PCD and how I was able to take the e70 on the offroad course

wow, I had the same exact questions! I'll let you know on production times when I get back from the BMW dealer later today, but I think it is late March- early April for a 3.0si, and mid April for a 4.8, but I'll have to check. I was also thinking of a South Carolina visit, but no dates work for me until June. Does anybody know the time frame for visiting after you take delivery? Could you do it a few months after?

I ordered my E70 in early November. We had a Early Decmeber build. It was done by 12-11, but the earliest PDC delivery we could get was 1-5-07. I'm glad that we waited though, since they had just restarted the factory tours. We were one of the first groups to see the completely redesigned factory. It is truly amazing! The performance center delivery was awesome. I would recommend it to anyone taking delivery of any BMW, not just the X5 or Z4.

Oh, I'm also taking a demo home with me this evening until monday just to make sure it isn't too big for me.

I ordered my E70 on Dec 29. My build date is the 4th week in January, with west coast delivery 6 weeks later (mid-March).

My 4.8 was ordered last week and the production date will be in April. I'm hoping it is late enough for the Saddle Brown leather and the black dash to become available.

Billigoat - 6 weeks to get to California? I know that there is a dedicated transportation system for the X5's but they could do it almost as fast with a wagon train led by Robert Fuller.
