The voice system in a friends '04 TL is so terrible it's not worth it to use.

voice recognition is good. its best if there's absolutely no other noise in the background so that it understands what you're saying. when u press the voice recogntion button it mutes the radio, but road noise can sometimes get pretty loud. plus, its good to have a list of voice commands which I remember seeing a list of over at e90post.com. one more thing on RTTI, make sure that your city has the capability to provide RTTI to your X5 as only certain major cities are available right now.
