RJR's pics are from an '03 4.4 according to the above post. I also got a flashlight with my '07 4.8 and it came in a small box and was located in the center armrest storage area. It has batteries and can't be recharged or placed in a socket. It now sits in the glovebox with my other junk...on the functional side, it is a very bright light.

my fkashlight was in the glove box at delivery. There is a cut out spot for it under the cargo area where near the tools. I obviously do not have a third row

I agree, what is that for? What can fit in there?

Looks like

It looks like a place to fit a rechargeable BMW flashlight. They're rectangular and look like a perfect fit. Problem is there are no DC connections for the flashlight. Maybe they'll wire future E70s for it.

Maybe it's linked to the forthcoming iPod interface referred to in one of the other active threads?

Hello xnsf! HA HA

I found a new boxed flashlight in the right rear pocket of my vehicle. It is not rechargable but better than nothing. My 2001 X5 did not include a light. Back then I purchased the rechargable light and installed the charging holder for the glovebox. This does not appear to be an option in the 2007.

Rooster... Thanks for the photo... I never noticed that little pocket in the glovebox. I just discovered that the adapter for the spare key fits perfectly in there. They tell you to keep the adapter in theh glovebox.. Maybe this is where it the adapter goes.

ANSWERS ON TWO QUESTIONS:

I got a LED flashlight in a plastic bag in my glovebox. It is small and round. Not rechargeable.
And the pocket in the glove box holds a plastic "key" that is hollow. You place the plastic wallet key into it, and place that into the ignition to start the car in the event of a electronic key failure.
I have pictures of both with the pics of my new car.
You can expect an article soon!
