I placed an ordered through Shelly BMW in Buena Park in the second week of Jan. I think. My X5 was completed and rolled out of the assembly line on 02-02-2007. I just took a delivery last week. I am from Southern Cal. too. The transit time from the factory to Oxnard is about two to three weeks time frame. Once your car arrives to Oxnard, it will be there for a few days prior transport to your BMW Center. And you go from there...

well, i guess i have it the worst:
i placed my order 10/6/06 started production 1/2/07 finished production 1/23/07, but needed software update so pushed back to a 2/15/07 completion date finally got on the rail to oxnard vpc around 2/27/07 dealer is telling me that it will around at oxnard vpc sometime around 3/16/07, and finally reach the dealership around 3/19/07. that would make it a total of almost 3 months since PRODUCTION, or almost 6 months since i placed my order. as you can tell, i'm pretty frustrated.. i placed my order from crevier bmw in santa ana, and they're supposedly the largest volume dealer in the west coast. where'd u place urs? what do u guys think? |

I think that you got caught in the "allocation zone". Some dealers did not get nearly enough allocation to meet demand so their customers have had to wait much longer than others. Frankly, I would have thought that low volume dealers would have had to wait, but the reverse seems to be true. I ordered in November, and I am told that as of today the car is only 250 miles and two weeks away.
IMHO BMW needs some real logisticians. Unfortunately for BMW and fortunately for those of us who care about freedom the best are in Afganistan and Iraq supporting the men and women who are defending our freedom.

I ordered from Bob Smith... I just called the 800 # and the autmated machine said the vehicle is in production and estimated to be complete March 21... I guess it's another few weeks from there. So much for the 50 days the dealer said it would from order date until taking delivery of the car. Can't really complain compared to some of the nightmare waiting experiences I've read here...

My experience is 5 to 6 weeks for delivery to So Cal after the car finishes production.

I too am in Southern California. My X5 completed production 2-21-07 and is "waiting to be released to carrier"
Just talked to customer service and they could offer me no further insight as to when I may receive my car. Does this mean that my car is still sitting in South Carolina? She could not confirm whether it travels via rail or truck. Does the automated system let you know when the car is in transit? |
