Comfort Access ==> No remote Control ?

I thought that by ordering the Comfort Access, I will still keep the regular remote control. I have not received my car yet but I found out today in the technical documentation, that teh Comfort Access Key was for the comfort access only ....

Does this mean that I will not get a remote control key with the X5 ?

The comfort access key is exactly the same, except the battery does not charge, the batteries must be replaced.

comfort access does not include keyless start does it? (like lexus' keyless entry & start)

Somebody who actually has their E70 with Comfort Access should probably answer this, but from the owner's manual on page 36:

"You can start the engine or switch on the ignition if a remote control is located in the interior of the vehicle. It need not be inserted in the ignition lock..."

YES, you can start the car with push of a button as long as you have your keny in the car. I guess you can still put the key in the fob and push the button to start the car also but what's point of doing that?

What exactly is the question?

You can start the car if the key is in your pocket, or if you like you can actually put the key in the ignition. I usually just keep the key in my pocket at all times...except when at the car wash, I then put the key in the ignition as when washing the car the door lock go crazy if the key is in your pocket.

The difference is that with comfort access... you can keep the remote in your pocket or purse. You grab the door handle and the door unlocks. You get in and push the start button and the car starts. When you get out.... you touch the edge of the door handle and the doors lock.

You do NOT have to place the remote in the dash to start the car. The remote does NOT charge like the standard remote. You will need to replace the battery every so often and the car will tell you when it is low.

The car send out a signal to the remote and they talk to each other. If the remote is in outside the doors will lock and unlock. If the remote is inside the vehicle... you can start the car. You cannot lock the remote inside the vehicle either.

As far at the battery... Remote access users will not plug it into the dash often enough to keep it properly charged. Short trips will only charge it for a short period reducing the life of the battery. In this situation... the battery woud need to be replaced and you would need to buy a new remote.. $200 + ouch! So it is better to have battery replacement instead.
