transmission issue

I brought my car into service today, I got a call from the service department saying that they found some anomalies (yes , that’s the word they used) with the tranny and they sent the info to BMW to see what it is. what really gets me is that, do they have any techs that actually know how to diagnose and fix a car??? what ever they found they had to send to BMW to see how to fix it!!! I’m so glad it’s a lease

Dude...calm down. It's not that big of a deal. The 2004+ 4.4i's had many trans issues. Yours is an early production unit..what'd you expect?

Is your X5 an early production vehicle?

I'm confused. Why, exactly, shouldn't someone be annoyed that their brand new vehicle is already in the shop with issues that will prevent its use for a week? And why is it acceptable that an "early production" vehicle doesn't have better quality than this?

It amazes me when I see people claim that others shouldn't be concerned about these things. They absolutely should be concerned/annoyed. If everyone just walked around with apathy, there would be no incentive for automotive manufacturers to improve their quality.

You are absolutely correct. It seems that the X5 was not ready for release when they started selling it which is totaly unacceptable. A company with the resources that BMW has should be able to release a product that is pretty much problem free.
That being said my X5 is being delivered next week so I'm hoping that allot of these issues have been addressed. Maybe wishful thinking on my part.

I took delivery of my X Jan. 1 and it has been trouble free since.... Just lucky I guess? However, I do agree that BMW released the E70 nonchalantly. I'm still waiting for the fookin ipod interface. Honestly BMW...

I got my X5 on Dec.18th and it is also trouble free sof ar (thank GOD) so I am confuse why other people are having so much problem. I went to Circle BMW (Eatontown NJ) over the weekend for a break-in oil flush and I specifically told my Service Advisor not to do any recall or any Service Updates. I just do not want the updates to introduce "bugs" in my X5 right now.
