USB Kit + Phone / Bluetooth Disconnection Issues
I just took delivery of my new 2007 4.8 and am going through the manual, getting familar with everything... A few things have come up: 1. The 2007 model has an option for a USB/IPod connector port in the center console. Of course, even though I inquired @ the dealer about this, nobody knew what it was, blah blah - said it could be added on as an option after delivery. Wrong. The dealer now is saying that that option is a factory-only option. I am calling BS on this, anyone else had this issue or am I the only moron in the crowd? The USB option sounds neat as the manual indicates you can use a cheapy USB thumb drive as your music source. How cool is that? I bet it would also power a 2.5" laptop hard drive in a USB enclosure, as they generally do not require an external power source. I have had the car two days and it's already bumming me out that I dont have it....any help? 2. Bluetooth / Blackberry phone issue. The phone integration is pretty decent, I am not going to complain about it too much - however, there are times where I would like to sever the connection between the phone and the car, and the manual indicates you can do this by pressing a button listed on page 207 of my X5 manual. Um, I don't have this button. It looks like a speaker icon, check your manual and you'll see what I mean. Where the hell is this button? |

you cannot add the 6FL option, it is factory order only.

You need to slow down for a second. The button you are talking about for the bluetooth is on the left side of your sterring wheel. It is quite easy to pair a phone to your X5 through the Bluetooth menu in Idrive.

I don't think you can sever and reconnect bluetooth without going through the I-Drive menu other than turning bluetooth on/off on the phone itself.

On my Treo during a call I can select Connect Bluetooth or Cancel Bluetooth. I choose Cancel Bluetooth which allows you to talk on your handset and not through the car for that call. When I hang up it reverts back to the car's speaker.
On my Samsung phone during a call I can choose Switch Audio in the menu on the phone. |
