Good timing for this thread. I just rented the Ford Edge from Hertz last weekend when I was out of town. It was pretty nice actually!
My brother has an '06 X5 4.4i and we raced his against the 2WD Edge 6 cylinder from a stop light. Although he won of course he really was pretty disappointed at how slim the margin was.  The things I liked about the Ford Edge were: 1) MUCH, much quieter interior cabin compared to the E53 2) Good handling (not as good as the X but very adequate) 3) Way more room for the rear passengers, and far bigger overall 4) Much more comfortable seats when compared to the E53 sport seats Not the marquee, but if you need a good, comfortable rental when you're out of town you'll be hardpressed to find a nicer ride for the money. My 2 cents...

first of all, ford shouldn't even be compared to any BMW, because it is simply not a competitor for BMW. second, we all know that manufacturers who must name (bash) other cars in their commercials make crap! plus, 0-60 time is not they only thing that counts! mustang GT has a very good 0-60 but only until its first bloody turn, where it will understeer into alaska. so keep on trying, ford!

Edge's are cool, X5's blow....
 I wouldn't go and say they make crap, for the money the Ford's and other vehicles are a far better buy then a 60-70k Bimmer. Why do people with Bimmers care about the Ford commercials?
