Whistle Latest 2007 X5 spy shot

Just saw the pics of 2007 X5 in the August issue of 'Car and Driver' and not happy with what I see. Hope this is not the final product. No X5 4.4i any more.
On the other hand I like the V5 pic.

Why kill the 4.4? Dumb... It's not exactly nice too look at, either... Let's hope that these spy shots are horribly wrong! I don't think you could do too much to improve on the looks of the current X5, so BMW better be careful! I'm not holding my breath for a beautiful car, though... We all know its going to be a big X3.

Because the 4.4i is being replaced by a 4.8 liter V8....No more 545i, 645Ci and 745iL.

Already the 750i and 750iL are roaming the streets of California. In the fall, the 550i and 650Ci will be out. They are using the 4.8 liter V8 engine. So the 4.8 liter because the "new" 4.4i....However, I heard that BMW may release the 4.0i liter V8 to the USA.....

Will the new 4.8 cost the same as a current 4.4?

That's funny...like BMW isn't going to take this oppurtunity to make more money of the X series?

I agree the upcoming X is poo, if those shots are anything like reality. The new front end does not lend itself well to a SUV/SAV...to slim. The 4.4 was a great mid-line engine for those who didn't want to spring the extra cash for a 4.8 but wanted a higher horsepower motor then the 3.0 I6. I find it kind of hard to see why you would keep the 3.0 in the line-up when you could just drop it in favor of the 4.4 (for a bigger X5 I would think owners would want the added power and torque...but then again, I don't work for BMW)

Here is a shot from automobile magazine...looks a little better...

My wife will like that non-minivan thing. I hate that X. If I stay within this class on my next ride, odds are it won't be another BMW. Too bad--I was hoping to make use of that $1k BMWCCA thing.

I hope this is still the pic. The spy shot looks the same as pic from last years Wheels issue.

What I wonder is what this will do to the resale of the current 4 8's...

Hopefully people will hate the looks... at least long enough for me to get rid of mine...then it will be time for the new X5 5.0is...mmmmmm V-10! or maybe the new ///M5X!!!
