Tire Pressure
Which tire pressure settings are correct (see attached photo)? 32/38 or 35/42
I recently had the tires rotated at the dealer, then immediatly left on a long road trip. I checked the pressure this morning after I returned and noticed the the dealer rotated the tires but didnt check the pressure, so I have been driving the past 1000 miles w/ 32 REAR and 38 FRONT pressures. Should I have expected the dealer to change this when he rotated the tires? I am pissed he didnt. BTW- The reason I checked the pressueres was the TPM gave me a warning when I got in the vehicle this am...front right was low. I checked and it was at 27...drove to a gas station and filled it up and readjusted all the tires to 32.5/38. Just went out and checked (8 hrs later) and the front right is still 32.5...I dont understand how I lost pressure in the one tire, but now all is fine. Maybe its a very slow leak and the TPM just now reported it.

Maybe things are diff on the E70, but "rotation",
other than maybe side to side in a pinch, was not rec'd on all E53s... That isn't a CR-V ya'll driving... Stlrs checking tire pressure, esp. since the tire is not "cold", is a leap of faith; and, most would screw it up anyway, imo. GL,mD

come on now...you trust them to change your oil, but they cant handle your tire pressure. They had the X overnight so they were plenty "cold".
Never owned a CR-V so I cant speak for it, but I usually rotate at every oil change and get considerably more life out of the tires.

Jes' trying to help...
The E53 manual rec'd against rotation, other than side to side, and even that isn't rec'd. My point was, the Stlr is seldom going to spend time on tire pressure readings. The CR-V comment was tongue in cheek... Good Luck. |

Page 221 of the E70 Manual:
"Rotating Wheels between axles BWM does not recommend moving the front wheels to the rear or vice versa, as otherwise the handling characteristics may be impaired." Imo, some of that is lawyer/prod liability bs, but even the E70 does rec'd against it. The genius stlr should have known, but then he didn't take the 30 secs to check tp... GL,mD |

thanks, I looked but couldnt find it.
I'll go back and complain, like that will do any good. (I've already driven 1000 miles since the rotate.) Dont guess it will do any good to rotate them back at this stage?? btw- what about the actual question I originally asked...what is the correct pressure. I have conflicting info.

Page 216 of the E70 Manual, from the front page of this site:
looks like 32/32 normal and unladen and 32/36 with load. Pretty easy and standard stuff. I would guess that 95% of X5 owners are riding around with pressures in that ball park. Surprised that the Stlr didn't balk at your tire rotation request. GL,mD |

my manual states look at the sticker in door panel for correct pressure.
I have two different stickers..I attached a photo in post one.

So, If you don't like 32/32 as the manual suggested,
run 32/38; if the "back end" feels a little stiff, back it down to 35 or 32. Easy stuff... |
