what I mean is-

if the car is locked, why does it matter that the glove box is locked?

if someone smashed your window, what's to stop them from sticking a screw driver in the glovebox and popping it open?

I just dont see how this really matters.

The fact that it is physically locked, with two locking mechanisms.

And, the point of a locking glove box, as with all cars (which usually have them) is that is creates a secure space for personal belongings that is out of sight.
In my Saab convertible, when ever I park it with the top down, i put what ever I don't want stolen in the glove box and then lock it. The only way to get in is with the key.
So that's why you need a locking glovebox.

yes, but my point is that it actually isnt a locking glovebox if you cant physically lock it.

When I lock my "car" I have created a secure space for my stuff.

The purpose of a locking glovebox is typically for those instances when someone has access to the car (valet, etc) and you want a place to lock up personal items...our glovebox wont do this. We have a weird locking glovebox that only locks when its locked...whats up with that?

I dont need to lock up my personal items twice.

The underfloor storage area in the boot(trunk) is physically lockable using the metal key inside the plastic. You can then remove the metal key before handing it over to valet. Not ideal - but better than nothing.

Pete
Did you order one of the optional storage packages? My car does not have a lock in there.

yep - I have third row - I also have the storage package (the one with the rails in the boot) - suspect it is one of those that comes with the lock.
