The original post stated: "Production of the 3.0sd begins in the USA in August with the X5 expecting to hit UK forecourts in October." ... did they mean USA will export only ? Why wouldn't they make it available to US at the same time ?

That picture looks like it has the UK Dynamic pack (which includes the titanium grill already).

U.S. 2008 (or 2009?) 3.0sd

It is not unusual for BMW to offer only certain models and engines in the U.S. and different ones overseas. For example, the 3.0d is available in 2007 in the UK but not the U.S. The 1 seres is not avaialbel in the U.S. at all. Unlike the U.S., the vast majority of X5s sold in the UK and Europe are diesel models. The U.S. is requiring low sulfur diesel fuel starting in 2008, so you'd expect to see diesel models in the U.S. starting in 2008, but I've seen no confirmation of that. I am personally waiting for the 3.0sd to be introduced in the U.S. before I'll consider an X5. I hope it comes in 2008. Not sure I'll wait until 2009.

Diesel X5 will come to US in 2008. BMW wants to have it approved for all 50 states before they release and therefore the delay. Once the doors for diesel open in US other BMW diesel models will follow.

1-series coupe and cabrio will be available in US soon. It will be the entry level BMW for NA market.

Have they changed the dynamic pack then? As the grille wasn't offered previously as part of the package.

For a subtle and discreet visual differentiation between the two diesel X5 models the 3.0sd also has a chrome kidney grille with titanium vertical slats.
In the last line of this paragraph which I have taken from LeMans previous post it stated that the 3.0sd is getting the titanium grill to distinguish it from the 3.0d

Sorry - I thought you meant the lower grilles - I see now you meant the kidney grilles! D'oh.

They should be with the Dynamic Pack or the regular SE. The Sport has different wheels from what can see.
