Car seat on third row seats?

Has anyone put car seat (Forward facing) on the third row seats? I was wondering if it is possible to do that since the thrid row seating is much smaller and i don't know if it is legal and safe to do that in US?
I have two kids and thinking to have 1 car seat on second row and 1 car seat on third row.

Thanks.
Mugen

It has been done, but a booster would be a much better bet, since it's hard to get children buckled in back there unless you are going to get in there with them. Children in booster seats are normally capable of buckling in themselves.

I just don't get these people who say there is no room in the 3rd row. Here is my very tall daughter sitting on a booster seat. Note how much knee / leg room there is...

Can anyone recommend a good infant car seat to use in an X5 and a 328i coupe? First grandchild is due and my wife and I need to find a solution to use for both cars. Also, do you use anytype of pad underneath?

Thanks for any help!!

I recommend Britax infant car seat from birth to 12 mos. and Britax Boulevard Convertible car seat from 12 mos and up. I did a lot of research and they are one of the best rated car seats. The best place to get them is from www.tinyride.com. They have the best price and they don't charge sales tax and no shipping charge. A little pricey but there's no price to pay for safety, just like our Bimmers. You can get a nice car seat pad from Babies R Us made by Prince Lionheart. This is a must to protect the leather. Good luck with the grand child.
