Chip on an E70
I know this may sound a bit rid to some of you, lol but what is a chip? and how much of a difference in performance would it give an e70 if it was installed? |

Previous to the OBD II engine control management, you used to able to install a chip to remap the engine computer to change the parameter to give the engine a more aggressive engine map that would push out the last few HP from the car. Today, you mush "flash" the computer to remap the engine computer, but on the E70, I don't think anyone makes any software yet.
I had the Dinan engine programming and transmission programming on my E53 and I can say it did make a difference and made it feel like a totally different car. It was much more peppy off the line and I actually got better gas mileage after programming. I'm hoping on the BMW tuners will have some software soon. |

ya the e70 is a new car, and it being a bmw many aftermarket tuners will have to research the e70's ECU for a while in my opinion to release a chip for it.
As technology in cars gets better, that means the ECU's inside cars get more advanced and like bmws and most euro cars are harder to play wit to get more power out of them

DMS have a very good reputation for this in the UK www.dmsautomotive.com, their diesel engine chips in particular have had excellent reviews. They have US contact details on the website.
