Steering Wheel - Still No Software Fix

There is a BMW TSB out that recognizes a problem with some e70 vehicles. The wheel goes up when the key is removed, but will not go down to your preset position when started up again. The TSB says a software fix will be out in September. I called the dealer to see if the fix came out a bit early, and the answer is no. I'll post when the fix is out. Interested in knowing how many of you have this issue.

but it only happens 75% of the time. i think if i wait a few seconds after inserting the key to push the button, like 5, it'll come down

Yeah, that's the issue. Seems to be a programming error where the wheel electronics don't respond to a "wake" signal generated by the system.

That's marketing speaking for you..."September" means September 30th. So, check back at October.

I have it too. I've been trying to establish a pattern but so far, no logical reason.

Mine does this too.

If you use the seat memory buttons.

When the wheels fails to return - press the memory button and it will move into position.

I've got it too...

My X5 does it too. I can't figure out a pattern.

I hope they are able to fix it with the patch in September....

yep mine does it too. The only time that it always fails is when I use the remote to open the windows. Other than that, it is intermittent.
