Keyless Entry Access

I know of all the glory that the "comfort access" system gets. But it's $1,000 and I don't think it's all that necessary. So my question is this, What is "standard" on the X5. Is it push button start, or is it the traditional key in the ignition? or what?

Thanks in advance for the help guys.

A "standard" X5 has a push button start. You insert the fob into it's place, step on the brake, then hit the button to start the engine. With comfort access, you don't need to place the key in the holder, just have the key on you somewhere and step on the brake and hit the button.

I too thought the $1000 for the keyless was useless as I did the dynamic steering, but both have turned out to be among the best of the upgrades I've done (and I've done more or less all of them but one!).. The best part of the keyless is your wife will not have to fumble for her keys when she's out and about and that is a security issue when you think about it.

i was thinking about dropping the comfort access, but decided to get it at the last second. So far it has been my absolute favorite and most used option next to HUD. I would highly recommend getting it if possible.

Rumors say the power tailgate will be included in the 08's comfort access option. Is this confirmed?

I would't say it is a must. It defintely is a nice to have option. I didn't opt for it since I couldn't justify to the $1000 with a new addition to the family on the way.
