YOu can't "break" a lease, you can buy it out, but that's expensive, or you can have someone assume the lease.. But BMWFS allows you to assign the lease to someone else, but you have to find that person first and agree on the terms. If you JUST leased the car, it's going to be very difficult to find someone to assume the lease because there is no incentive for them (they could get the same or better deal from the stealer). Most lease assumptions happen after the lease is about 1/2 over or within 6-12 months of the termination. The good thing is the BMWFS allows you to assign the lease and walk away free and clear, MB, GM, Ford, etc etc, will keep you on the lease as a guarantor, which sux because if the new "owner" defaults, you're responsible for the payments. The best advice I can give you is to enjoy the car for the lease term, try to dump it after a year/18months. If you try to buy it out right now, you're so upside down that the car will cost you significantly more than if you had just financed it or bought it outright. good luck. btw- check out swapalease.com and leasetrade.com if you decide you want to dump it.

LeaseTrader.com is a decent place to find someone willing to assume your lease...

How long is the lease for? The twin turbo won't be here for many many more months, plus the delivery wait time. In addition, according to the more informed here, BMW is waiting for all 50 states to approve as 6 states right now won't even allow sales of diesels.
Maybe you'll grow to love your 4.8i by then. I know I'd probably rather have that than the phantom 3.0sd. |

The diesel is rumored for March 08. I have also heard rumors, it won't be here until 09. I would enjoy your car until BMW releases info on the 3.0 SD. I am waiting for the diesel as well.

I agree, I don't know why BMW is keeping this a secret. I have driven the Mercedes ML 320 CDI. It's under powered in my opinion. You can't pass on the highway in the Mercedes... At least the one I drove.
