2007 x5 4.8 low angine oil

My X5 got 7,000 miles. yesterday the low engine oil warning light went on on my dashboard. I checked the oil level and it showed me minimum level on stick. I checked my drivway and there is no oil stain on it, so I assume there is no leak. Please explain it to me before my appointment with dealer if it is normal to happen to brand new car. What could cause it. Waiting for yours answer.

Thank You,
Slavo

It will be considered a "standard consumption rate", by BMW and
your Stlr. Have them top it up, have them give it a look, but it will
be considered "normal" unless they find a leak. These babys aren't
Toys or Hondas. Welcome to the Board.

yep, both my e53s needed topping up with oil around 8000 miles, alledgedly to do with the extra strains of running in.

Totally normal, I added a quart at 7,000 miles. A quart every 7,000 miles is actually low oil consumption. I dropped by the dealer and 10 munutes later I was on my way.

This may sound like a silly question, but does the dealer charge for topping off the oil? Is this considered part of the maintenance package?

You check the oil level and other wear items like brake pads etc., electronically in the computer system, it's very easy. It would take longer to explain than to read how in the manual.
