Apple iPhone & E70

Hi.

Just a quick question regarding the iPhone & E70. (Yes search is a good thing to do, but didn't find answers)

Will an E70 (being built Oct 07) support the Iphone (firmaware 1.1.1), and if so

does USB/6FL support the music ipod component
and the bluetooth component support the phone component

or will USB Audio/6FL connection, support music/phone features and all from the one connection...???

Does anyone have any feedback on this??

Thanks

Here is a link from BMWUSA stating their support for iPhone with Bluetooth. It doesn't say anything about firmware, but considering their public support of it I'd say you should have no problems; or at least few problems

I don't know from personal experience, but I have a very good relationship with the dealer I bought my car from (long time client of theirs). I have a Verizon blackberry and was considering switching to an iPhone. I was told by my salesman and backed up by the tech person there that they've "fully" integrated an iPhone into the new X5 - bluetooth, full address book and music connectivity.

Again, this isn't from personal experience, but what was told to me directly by a trusted source at my dealership.

It works very well. I tested it in the 07 that I test drove before I ordered our 08. Not one issue.

It also works well with my 07 530i. The only issue I have seen there, and in the 07 X5, was no charging via the USB adapter or MOST interface.

Nice little device in all...

In my 2007 X5, the music functionality works through the 6FL option - although when I connect the iPhone to the 6FL cable, a message temporarily appears on my iPhone stating that "this accessory is not compatible with the iPhone". Despite the message, all of my music and playlists show up on the iDrive screen.

I don't know if the iPhone can be charged using the cable right now. On my phone, when connected, there is no on screen indication that it is being charged. However, I've read somewhere that the 6FL connection is in fact charging the iPhone, but because the current is so small, the iPhone does not recognize that it is being charged. All I know is that in my experience, the iPhone generally loses power while being connected, so I don't think it is really being charged.

The phone functionality, including my contacts list, works fine via Bluetooth, even when connected to the 6FL cable. I've never tested my phone with the Bluetooth turned off, so I don't know if the phone functionality will work through the cable.

I've read that there is a new 6FL cable that will work better with the iPhone - it will prevent the "not compatible" message from appearing and it will really charge ths phone via a larger current - but I have no idea if it is available yet.

If someone does figure out what to buy to charge the iPhone, please let me know, because it totally blows that I can't charge it when I drive!

Thanks
