there are a couple of threads on this subject but I have been quoted $2500 off MSRP w/most options...

some have mentioned doing a bit better in the $3000 range...

$2000 is good but if you're getting many options I'm sure you can push a little harder...

push for $3k and see what happens...

tip... there is also a "tax deduction" on your trade-in as well... this was calculated into the final price which helped a bit more... (and that was after I got my trade-in asking price)

and it doesn't hurt to ask him/her to throw in a misc item or two which you would normally purchase anyway... (i got my dealer to add the BMW all-season weather mats set...which saved me another $200 bucks!)

good luck!

I'm going to see this person who said he is giving me $900 over dealer invoice and free floormats for 2008 x5 4.8 I'll see how it goes on saturday. I'm not sure if I should upgrade the wheel to 20 inch. Just worried about the ride if it's going to be bumpy because of lower profile compared to standard 19 inch wheel. But I like the looks of 20 inch.

As I mentioned in another thread, $2500 off is still giving the dealer over 10% profit. Scary.

The article I grabbed it from says most dealers are happy with 5% profit. Typical grocery stores operate at 2-3% profit.

So having to work your blood, sweat, and tears at negotiations for a "good" $2500 discount is simply .

In my country to get 10% is no sweat. Well, prices in Europe are almost double vs US.
I have seen the invoice of a BMW order for corporate fleet, they gave 17% discount on the list price! No kidding.

In Baltic states 5% discount is great, if you order 6 and more vehicles - until 12%. In Germany aprox. 6-8%, in Austria 8-10% from list. But our list prices are double vs US as digiteye said...
