You guys get comfort access included in the premium package for free too now don't you? I know the price difference is still huge, but you should note that difference for US vs. Canada.

I have not further investigated the brokers yet, but it seams like a worthwhile fee to me.

I hope more Canadians push back to BMW Canada for fairer pricing. I really think we are getting screwed by BMW Canada.

It's not just BMW though, its EVERY FREAKIN THNG we buy here. Everything is still priced the 'old way', ie, US price 19.99, CDN 26.99. Go grab any book from Chapters.

You state that we are getting something for free? I would gladly pay 1K to save over 20K. Comfort Access should be included all around as it is available much cheaper on other vehicles such as a Nissan Utlima. You would think they way BMW prices things that they were the only ones in the world offering them. Not sure what it says about us BMW owners if we are foollish enough to pay whatever they ask.

I will be waiting for the Diesel before making up my mind, but I will not be paying the price difference between Canada and the US. I will gladly venture south for the savings.

Perhaps at Chapters, but not at Wal-Mart! Wal-Mart charges the US price on books now in Canada. Isn’t competition a wonderful thing!

Also Chrysler has advised that they will be changing their Canadian pricing to be in line with US Pricing. Not that I am looking at a Chrysler at the moment, but it is at least the first Car Manufacturer to state this publicly. I hope all other Car Manufacturers start to follow suit. It is up to the Canadian public to affect change by voting with their dollars or by delaying their purchases to get the message across to Manufacturers.

I'm with ya on that... a week ago I even mentioned here how that Nissan Rogue commercial featuring their comfort access really pissed me off. Invoice on BMW's comfort access costs $910... they're not really "ripping us off"... but I would really like to know how others can include it so freely...

Yes they are, but you can't blame them for charging what the market will bear. If we are foolish enough to pay for it then they will charge it.

Foolish enough to pay X amount for any part of a BMW too... "refinement and luxury" really should only go so high...

Don't forget the loss of warranty. If you import an X5 from the US you loose 4 years comprehensive warranty and get some sort of basic 2 years warranty. Needless to say, some of the things can be really pricey, if things start going south.

Not so! On the BMW Canada web site it states that the warranty will be honored. They will not honor the 4 year free maintenance however.

SERVICE ELIGIBLE
New Car Limited Warranty Yes
Roadside Assistance Yes Only via U.S. phone number
Certified Pre-Owned Program No
BMW Assist No
No-Charge Scheduled Maintenance Program No

Correct. I checked with BMW last year when I was going to import mine. I did buy in Canada which leads to my question; What exactly does the maitenance warranty cover in Canada? Does it include the first brake replacement too?
