2008 X5 ordered in Canada
I ordered in canada an 2008 X5 4.8 with premium, tech and sport w/20's and third row seats last July 31. At that time the dealer quoted me with 2007 pricing and mention that they will adjust and delivery would be in November. In September the premium option pricing and features had changed and increased by 1k. My dilema now is the canadian dollar parity with the US and pricing should at least adjust fairly enven if it was 10%. I went back to the dealer to negociate/delay or even cancelling til the prices adjust. I have a 2500.00 deposit and I was told that I was commited to the deal. What would be my best option. |

Get your lawyer to take a look at what you signed and agreed too.

Legally, generally, in Canada they have to deliver the car to you within sixty days of the date of the signed paperwork or the deal can be void by either party. Read the back of your sales contract it should tell you there. Where are you located in Canada?

I'm in Ottawa. The X5 is arriving this week and will be speculating it before signing the final documents. the dealer has verbally offered me some incentives like lower interest rate and about a 2k discount on invoice.
Once I probably see the car the desire will be there, but the needs are questionable. |

The dealer is also supposed to give you a cash rebate that they recently announced, not sure what it is for a 4.8 but I got the $2,500 rebate for the 3.0si. SO the end price shoul be significantly lower than what you originally agreed / expected.

Yup, BMW canada put those out about a week ago due to the Canadian dollar being at par with the US dollar. IMO, its almost insulting to Canadians, a X5 in the US is still almost 20Gs cheaper, and they want us to be happy with a $2500 rebate.

Hey, better than nothing
! I used the US website and priced my 3.0si including my discounts (car excl pdi, taxes etc) and it would have been $8000 cheaper in the US but then since I don't have time to take it to the US for servicing and warranty the price differential decreases - this does not include any discounts you could get from a US dealer but I suspect they would be less willing to give discounts to a Canadian - could be wrong though.I do acknowledge we get ripped off in general in Canada

Well you're actually still paying the same regardless of whether the US existed or not, right? $2500 is something.
I'd like to complain about price differences on many products all over the world too... |
