Vehicle Order Tracking (online) is so outdated!

i just called today for my status and they said it was completed yesterday and on its way to the dealer....one week ahead of schudule...

Note: placed order on Nov 6, scheduled for week 47 build, and completed build on Nov 26...(week 48!)

exactly one week build time!!!

sounds kind of fast....hopefully they didn't take shortcuts or forgot to install anything....

That makes sense. I've ordered mine 2 weeks (13 days) later, and it is scheduled for the week 49...

What does the on-line order tracking says now ? When did you learn the VIN number ?

The VIN number shows up in the online system (eventually).

Here is an interesting twist...
As of today 5pm EST: on-line order tracking still says "on order" (no mentioning of "scheduled for production", no VIN).

Called my dealer, he goes "click-click" on the computer, and tells me that the car is already in production (even though it was scheduled for next week - 49), entered phase "152", which means "being painted" (there are also phases 150, 151, etc.)... So the dealer seems to know most detailed info (BMW customer service does not give out that information, perhaps they dont want you to know all the details of the progress, afraid to confuse us ??)

I've asked my SA to give me daily updates...

So the status has finally changed to "Scheduled For Production", and, at the same time, VIN got assigned !

So since it was in the paint shop on Wed 11/28 11am, my guess it should be nearing the assembly line, or even be off it already ! If you watched the NG's show last night about the same plant producing Z4s, it takes them 40 hours from start to end, with the paint shop at approx 20% of the way.

It has been 11 days since the order...

I am not sure anyone knows the exact stage my car is in...:

Entered Production - Nov 27 (a week ago) - everyone (dealer and BMW) agrees on that

As of yesterday, dealer is showing 152 - (Paint Shop Started) - and that was visible from Nov 28th 11am...

Called yesterday the 800#, automated voice response says "In Production, estimated completion Dec 6th"

Called today the 800#, got 2 different responses:

* Automated voice response line - "the vehicle is in production with estimated completion on Dec 5th"

* Live representative - "the vehicle just entered the paint shop, estimated completion on Dec 7th"


What is going on there !!!???

You have to relax Alex or you will lose your mind following up on it! When I ordered my 645 CiC a few years back I tracked the whole production , and then i tracked it's exact position on the transport ship across the atlantic using the weather buoy information! I lost my mind when it got stuck at the port in NJ for 2 weeks awaiting EPA certification for the year!

Trust me....let it go, don't think about it or you will go slightly mad as I did.

Note: I still am quite insane, never recovered from that time in my life

Ha ha ha.... It would not be the first time.... 3 years ago I was expecting, just as eagerly, my 05 Ody... How can one get so excited about getting a minivan you may ask ? Well, that was a fully loaded one, with so many gizmos one's head start to spin. I did not care for shape and look, I cared for the options I had on it.
