Tire & Wheel Protection program. Need help

My truck is arriving in days and my CT dealer does not have a Tire & Wheel Protection program to offer me; they are still trying to get a GE Protection plan approved in the state of CT.

I'm going to have two expensive sets of wheels and tires (BMW 20" summer and BMW 18" winter -- both runflats) so a good tire & wheel protection program seems to make sense.

I know that some of these programs are useless. For example, some only offer $400 per wheel maximum. The "InTire Tire & Wheel" program looks like a good one as it has 5-year repair or replacement; 100% reimbursement for tires, wheels, etc. I contacted that company and I contacted my local Porsche dealer, as I found that they sold this, but they said they could not sell it for my BMW.

The urgency for me is that these protection programs generally have to purchased when the tires are new.

Any advice is appreciated!

I have my Tire Insurance from Safeguard. I punctured my right rear passenger tire and they fully replaced the RFT with no cost to me. Dealer charged Safeguard $354 for 1 tire. I suggest you shop around because a dealer normally marks up the cost at least 300%. (I have a friend who works in a dealership who told me about this) Here is the link: http://www.safe-guardproducts.com/in...=84&Itemid=116

not sure what the availability is like for the OEM runflats for an e70, but for my e92, there was a national backorder in the spring/summer. most people i knew couldn't wait the 2+ months to get a new OEM tire covered by the protection program, so they went non run-flat since it was readily available (and out of their own pocket). obviously, not many thought buying the tire protection was a good idea.

Thanks. I actually contacted Safe-Guard earlier today after doing a Google search for Tire&Wheel Protection. They only work with dealerships; they will not sell to me directly.

Only one that I've found that sells to the public, and I found some positive things about it (on Bimmerfest), is Paragon Auto Club (autoclub.com) so I'm considering that one. It's really cheap too.

Hey Brian,

I used Safeguard with my 645 CiC and they were great! I had to replace a cracked wheel and 2 tires with them (total over $1500) and they never caused me any problems. Also every one of the replacements happened away from the dealership and they refunded me the cost in less than 30 days. The only problem is the price they use for tires is from tirerack, so if dealer charges premium , you have to pay the difference.

Hey kustjag,

Thanks for that response about Safeguard. Unfortunately, they only sell through dealers.
