Don't know if it applies to the E70 but it still applies to the E53. I had my 'annual' oil change done at the dealership two weeks ago - no charge and they did not reset service indicator.

Anyone tried Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5W-30 on 3.0 disiel ?
I had oil changed @ 1200km, dealer use Castrol SLX 5w-30.
Have ordered the ESP 5w-30 for next oil change @ 10,000km.

Yes but that has nothing to do with the quality of the oil, but the fact that the two have a commercial agreement including supply of oils to the F1 team, and other forms of motorsport. As part of the F1 deal (originally with Williams BMW, and now with BMW Sauber) BMW changed its recommended oil to Castrol.

Personally I have no problem using Castrol, but if it was my own choice I'd be going with Mobil 1.

the BMW branded oil is Valvoline which is made by Castrol....

Mobil 1 is the way to go.... second would be Amsoil..
