Well, E70 is an SUV that has a trunk that is actually same space as passenger area, the car doesnt know if you are in the car with they keys or not.
You should be able to have the car lock its doors with you in it for security, E92 has a separate trunk and I am sure you would probably be capable of locking the car with keys on the drivers seat.

I am only assuming this, and thats my logic behind it.

Yes, but this is the E70 forum.

Acura RL would not let you lock your keys inside... Tried !

None of this may apply to the new E70, but there must be a spare
key, (valet type), that comes with the E70s.

That's what I did with my previous cars. But unfortunately, all under surface of E70 are "plastic" or at least "non-magnetic". So the magnetic
car holder does not work on this car.

Thank you for helping orient me. (I have always wanted to use this one!). I guess I was silly enough to be supporting the comment of Quicksilver, who said essentially the same thing in post #6 of this E70 thread.

couldn't you have got a local garage to jimmy the lock. ?? Or a half tennis ball over the lock and thump it.???

Or has the X5 got something other than normal central locking cars.

Or can you not get down the side widow between the door with a jimmy.

I'd bet one could find a metal/magnetic accepting horizontal
surface under your car...some area that takes a real stretch
on your part, but shielded from the road wash and hard to
find by the average punqeazz car thief. I admit I haven't
climbed around under a new E70, but every car & M'cycle
I've ever owned has a "spot" available.

No biggie...I am not on a mag box/key hide crusade; I've
simply used them for the past 40 years and they have saved
my fanny several times.

They said they located my car (they read my parents address to me), then said I had to hold down the trunk release thingey for a few seconds. ...And then all doors unlocked!

I tried to find a metal or megnatic surface under my car this afternoon. I did find a place to place the megnatic key holder; however, I can not announce to public otherwise my secret key will be found and my car will be stolen.

I wrap the key holder with an air-tight bag, seal it, and attach it onto the
secret metal surface. For safty, I secure it with a water-proof tap as an
additional support.

Thank you for your information.
