PDC off feature after parking???

I just picked up my new baby this weekend (yes, I'll post pics and post a fully detailed test review after one complete week of driving!! so please be patient!!)

one thing i noticed right away...when i'm parking...(using PDC and camera) the PDC beeping does not go off when i have finished parking and have put the vehicle in Park... (i am idling in my spot with engine still running)

do i need to shut off engine?? isn't there a feature to shut the PDC sensors off??

I can manually turn off the camera but the PDC beeping continues...

as i waited for my wife to come down...the darn thing drove me nuts!!

looked through the manual and checked on screen settings but couldn't figure it out.

anyone?

btw...i hit the PDC button on the dash just below the DVD drive but nothing happened...

again, i plan to post a detailed test drive report which will mention all features and stuff.... very soon!

First of all, congrats on your new baby Drod.

This same issue irritates me but the only way to get rid of it is to shut the engine off and restart. Once you put the car in reverse, the sensors will stay on even though you have put it in park while idle. I asked the dealer about it several times and got the same response, it is normal. So you either shut down the engine or drive off and reach a certain speed for the PDC to shut off.

I just press the PDC button to engage or disengage the beeps. Try keeping your finger on it for 2 seconds till light goes out.

First of all congratulations on your new E70

With my E60 the PDC turns off automatically when I shift to neutral, but if I wanted to I could turn it off manually by pushing the PDC button. If the button doesn't turn it off on the E70 (and the switch itself is not broken) then they should fix this in a future software upgrade.......at least I hope so.

My experience with the E60 for the past three years has been that at least 50% of the time when new software is release to fix a bug, it unintentionally introduces a new bug.....which is then fixed with a future software update. PeteM is saying that it works on his car, so if it truly doesn't work on the newest E70's then it may be a new software bug,.........or you may need to hold the button down for a couple of seconds like Pete suggested. I don't have to hold the button down on my E60 as it reacts immediately upon pressing it, but you never know...they may have changed it on the E70.
