Not sure about the cost of the Hartge system in Europe however here in Australia it is MUCH cheaper to purchase a complete 4.8 rear muffler with tips from BMW and to then have the tips removed & fitted to my 3.0d !

Oh and btw, price is not cheap either : 665 euro for the dual-round pipes, 560 for the oval end pipes ...

An OEM BMW 4.8 muffler with oval endpipes has a cost of appr 650 euro, but I wonder if we can fit this to our diesel cars ??? It used to be done a lot on E53's, but never heard of such modifications to E70's... maybe to early ...
I did it on my 3.0D, looks fantastic and much cheaper that the hartge tips.

Not taken into account the cost of labour, I had received the following prices (I have some discount with BMW) :

- 4.8 complete muffler : 634 euro
- Hartge : 665 euro

Since I did not get any clear indication that the petrol mufflers would be ok on a diesel, I decided to go with Hartge. I also wanted 2 round endtips instead of oval ones.

Sweet, would be great if you could post picture once installed. Am still planning to do the same once the neverending wait is over. Understand that the SD comes with bigger chrome tips but can anyone confirm if the tips on the '08 3.0d are different from the'07 3.0d ?

tks,

Sam

The 2008 3.0d gets a chrome tip. It's the same diameter pipe as both the 2007 3.0d and the 3.0sd which has the same chrome tip.
