Has anyone dumped his/hers runflats on 20s?

My front ones are almost gone at 10,000 miles and i am not very happy. i am thinking about switching to regular tires, which are cheaper and supposedly offer a better ride quality. So far, i am considering the Yokohama ADVAN ST or the Bridgestone Dueler H/P sport. What do you guys think?

Thanks

Do a couple searches on the board, this has been posted to before. I believe a few members have in fact made that switch.

The only think I'd worry about is when you do get a aflat - if your on the highway, and loose pressure, my biggest worry would be about possible rim damage on a normal tire. The RFT at least provides some protection...not sure how much notice you'll get with the TPM warning.

In my case, it shouldn't be a problem- got the tire and wheel protection for for a fraction of the price from the dealer (it took them forever to prepare the paperwork, so they made it up). i am gonna give the stock dunlops another 2k miles and then swap them for Yokohamas ADVAN ST's.

Is your main driver to spend less on tires or are you looking for better ride quality? I did not have the 20" wheels on my car for long before switching to winter wheels but I thought the ride quality on the X5 (with those 20" run-flats) was great! But I haven't driven X5 without run-flats --- can only compare to cars and other SUVs...

I am the same opinion as you.

- tires run flat wear out faster than the classic tires,

- they are much more expensive (30 in 50 % more)
- and with difficulty available

Only 3 manufacturers propose tires in the dimensions (Front: 275/40/R20, Rear: 315/35/R20), the indications of speed (W: Front & Rear) and load (Front: 106, rear: 110) of X5 in 20" :
- Vredestein (Ultra Suv Sessenta)
http://www.vredestein.com/Banden_Ban...&BandtypeID=61
- Yokohama (Advan ST)
http://www.yokohamatire.com/advan/default.asp
- Bridgestone (Dueler Sport HP)
http://www.bridgestonetire.com/tires...ProductID=1106

Personally, I shall replace Dunlop Run Flat by Vredestein
