If that's brake fluid or coolant (what color is BMW coolant?), the whole car needs to be repainted.

I had $20K in front end damage on my e53 2 years ago. Be sure to file a Diminished Value claim through your insurance or hers. Ask your insurance about it. I got $5K for my diminshed value claim--yours will be higher. Glad you are alright.

That's because they are plastic not metal. The hood is aluminum. Dents real easy.
Car and drive highlighted this technology advancement by saying "Both lightweight and pedestrian friendly,
the hood is made of aluminum and the fenders from thermoplastic.

I know that had to hurt (not physically)

Your X5 did its job of protecting you by absorbing the energy from her car, much like what happens to race cars. Unfortunately (or fortunately), that's one of the tradeoffs in designing safer vehicles.

A vehicle can always be replaced or repaired and the good thing is that you are okay. Keep us posted on the repairs and good luck!

glad you're ok...

vehicles nowadays are made from plastic and other light materials... a small 20mph accident could turn out to have 20k of damage... sucks but that's just the way it is...

can you get other estimates?? maybe someone else will have you claim it totalled...

if not make sure that thing is repaired perfectly!! have them look at everything.... cracks on dash, lights, door jam/gap, everything...

take plenty of pictures....

hope if all works out.
