Early look at BMW Vision EfficientDynamics Concept
"
BMW has announced that it will debut its new EfficientDynamics technologies at next month's Geneva Motor Show. The system combines the automaker's ActiveHybrid technology with a twin-turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine — mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission — and even includes roof-mounted solar panels. BMW will showcase the technology in its X5 SUV. The X5's 2.0L four-cylinder turbo-diesel will crank out an impressive 204 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid system will kick in another 20 horsepower and about 160 lb-ft of torque. According to BMW, the system achieves 43.5 mpg in the combined cycle. But despite the X5's green intentions, it can still sprint from 0-62 mph in 8.9 second. The concept also uses regenerative braking to recharge its lithium-ion battery packs. Power to the batteries can also be supplemented by the aforementioned solar panels, which can also warn the vehicle's fluids to reduce inefficient warm-up times. Every detail of the concept is designed to get the most efficient results, even down to the specially designed aerodynamic 19 inch wheels. Check back for more details and live images after the concept's unveiling next month." ![]() ![]() ![]() http://www.leftlanenews.com/bmw-visi...s-concept.html |
