brake squeal
Only 300 miles on it but everytime I stop now on local roads, within the very last foot of stopping the brakes are squealing. They're not wet or anything. I've left it out in the cold last few days instead of the garage but I've driven it for 20+ minutes and it should've heated up by then. I ease into all my stops because if I press any harder, the brakes are so sensitive that we would jolt forward. Any ideas or similar experiences?

Mine is doing the same thing. I just haven't had time to take it to the dealer. Mine starting doing it at about 4000 miles.

I noticed the same thing the first few hundred miles. The loud squeal disappeared once I hit about 500 miles. Break-in time? I now have close to 3000 miles and have not heard anymore squealing (knock on wood).

I had not been happening for the first 250 miles though.

My ///M Roadster and my X3 suffered from the squeaking (no jolts though).
BMW makes squeaky breaks... One of the many perks of BMW ownership

My brakes have squeaked consistently over the first 1400 miles.

I thought the tradeoff was more brakedust for the quieter brakes (as many have said). Having both is a raw deal.

newbie but accumulation of brake dust on the brake rotors is causing that ..
try washing the brake rotors with pressure washer

No squeaky brakes here.
I always found OEM BMW brakes to be very quiet, probably due to the soft compound of the pads. Good suggestion above and worth a shot. I doubt the dealer will do anything other than tell you its normal.

After the brakes are broken in, try a few firm stops in a safe place... continual light usage of the brakes can lead to squeal in many cases.
