it's not a fact though quicksilver. suggesting that this kind of feature exist and discussing the pros and cons is perfectly reasonable. attempting to quash that and just telling people that the only reasonable course of action is to set the clock manually and move on isn't actually reasonable, or factual. it's just one possible course of action.

another is to discuss the idea and learn about it's possible impacts and benefits and passing on feedback to the manufacturer. I'm sure BMW generally want to continue adding nice features where possible (this certainly is) to their vehicles as opposed to telling them it's not a reasonable request and to just move on.

Come on folks, no need for flames... I was just pointing out 2 facts:

a) The clock does not change automatically with the DST
b) Other car manufacturers have already adjusted to the new DST rules.

That is all. It is totally irrelevant how long it takes to make the change manually. BTW, we do have power windows in our cars, while cranking down the windows manually takes 5 seconds, too And that, too, does not affect the driveability of the X

I agree that it is certainly not a big deal, but the truth is that most of the devices in my home which have a clock, adjust themselves automatically.
Some have their own "table", some simply sync with what's in the air (like a clock which syncs time with an atomic clock in Frankfurt.
There are 2 clocks in my household I need to manually set every DST change: an old battery operated wall clock and the BMW.. :-)
My Computers, Cell phones, House phone, Microwave, alarm clock, heating thermostat, X10 home automation device, they all take care of this by themselves. If none would do it, the 5 second excersize would certainly look different.....
