OK, I just ordered something different as an experiment.

I ordered a set of IPF Super Low Beam - Hyper White 5000k bulbs. They are H8 12V35W, but have an light output equivalence of 75W without drawing extra juice! (kinda like HIDs) I found them here:
http://www.intakeone.com/Light_bulbs/IPF_Xbulbs.html

I guess I'll be the guinea pig. I just have a hard time justifying spending the huge $$$ for the PIAAs. I'd rather spend it on my upcoming 21" tires.

Now if I can rid of the amber corners by tieing them into the sidemarkers, like I did on the M...Unfortuanetly, I went back to factory, as I originally going to use the M on trade in on the X...But I had a knot in my throat when it came time to part with it....so it's still hanging around...
replacing the fogs just sucks period, like I said before, dont judge by the pictures.

While not as bright as I really would like, the Piaas are alot brighter than what I was exspecting. Overall I'm really satisfied with them. The build quality is on par, and the installation is pretty easy. The fit is snugg so moisture shouldn't be an issue, although the X5 already has plugs to keep the moisture out of the head lamp....
Sorry about the cruddy pics...Once the weather clears up, I'll try to get some decent pics with them side by side of the M3 (cathode type)halos....

Looks great!!! I had a few questions about the Piaa LEDs;
Any warning lights? Can you please take a pic of how you kept the wires that are attached to the bulb? Thanks.

I just order this Piaa H8 JDM 35W=70W Bulbs. I'll let you know how it turn out. Just installed Piaa H11 JDM bulbs for the Fog too. They are Piaa H11 JDM 55w=110w

PIAA Plasma Ion Yellow H11 JDM Fog Bulb Foglights Bulbs
I love the bright yellow Fog. They look sharp and color is awsome. I take some photo, but the photo is fuzzy in the dark. Didn't show the fog clearly, can see bright yellow, but it is like out of focus. my Sony Cam Suck in the dark..
I will try again tomorrow @ dawn.

JDM= Japan domestic Market.

They are better Quality then the export items. I used JDM whenever possible.

on my x5 i put on the nokya lights and they look exactly the same... and when i turn on the actual headlights, and the halo's go in low power mode, they match pretty damn well, now i think i should make my fog lamps HID's

No warning lights..
The wires/resistors just get pushed into the headlamp enclosure, behind the bulbs where they are not visible, then you canseal the enclosure up using the plug....Piaa supplies some zip ties, but I really didn't see the need for them...So maybe they're needed for the e60....In which from what I could tell from the installation pictures(instructions are in Japanese), you have to turn the LED's 90 degrees for the e60...They come out of the box, rigged for the e70 and e92...

I tried to take pics during installation, but I suck behind the lens, and couldn't get good enough lighting...but you can see from the instructions how they are shoving the resistors in...

just installed the Piaa H8 35W 4250K Bulbs. The light and halo rings match the HID in DRL mode. "Extreme White" BUT once I turn on the headlight, the halo rings look yellow again.
Anyone know if it is the Piaa bulbs in low power mode that makes it yellow or am I missing something. Halo rings look white in DRL mode, but yellow in headlight mode????
