Jack placement for 2007 X5

I need to put the X up on Jack stands all four corners and have a couple of questions. I have read the article on this site on jacking, but still have some questions:

1) I have looked under the vehicle and I can't see anywhere to put the jack to lift so I can get jack stands underneath. Lots of flat sheet material under there to protect from road debris. I am not sure where the suspension arms arms are or what they even look like (as suggested in e53 posts).

2) The jacking point are recessed "cups" about 2" long x 1 1/2" wide and 3/4" deep. How do you get a standard jack stand to fit into the jack point? is this the best place for the jack stands?

3) Is there an adapter or pad to fit into the jacking recess that anyone knows about, my saddle cannot be removed. I was thinking about using hockey pucks?

4) Is it alright to just put the floor jack saddle under the jack point recess cup and not into the recess. When i do this it just does not seem right I keep thinking the jack point is going to break since it is plastic.

5) What is the correct procedure to get all four corners onto jack stands?

Any suggestions and help would be appreciated.

I use a floor jack and have made gotten a piece of metal 2" x 1" x 3" which I insert into the plastic cup and then the floor jack pushs on the metal block. The plastic I think will crack...

I understand your concerns for individual jacks at home, but are we saying the E70 needs special attention when jacked up even for someplace like at a tire store when they work on it? I know they have the hydraulic lifts but are there different points for this it for some reason?

BMW technician told me to just jack the vehicle up using the factory jack pads on the vehicle. With a floor jack place the saddle under the jack pad. He said they won't break and this is how they do it with the hydra lift. He also said it is alright to jack the rear using the differential, not to keen on that though.

I would stick with the predetermined, factory jack points. That's what I did when I changed out the wheels on our cars.

I would use the side car jacking points for the jack stands (#2). Jack the X up using #1 for the front and then place jack stands under the front two side jack points (front #2), and then use the jack on #3 for the rear to lift it up and place jack stands under the rear two jacking points (again #2).

Take heed of the warning not to use the differential cover, but the actual pumpkin. (just as in the diagram)

Good luck!

The E53 also has the same jack points as the E70. But the one off the front subframe (#1 above) is slightly different. Here's the document:
