I heard a story about someone in a 7er who was dropped off at the airport in his own car being driven by a friend. He got out at the airport with the key on him. The friend drove off without a key. Hope he didn't stop somewhere on the way home. Owned!

if you and your wife approach the car at the same time and both of you have an individual data set for seats and the like on your keys - the distance between car and keys will be measured.

Within half a meter of approaching the car's door handle, the data set for the seats etc., will be activated. And if theres two of you, it should be that person's data set who is closer to the driver's side door handle or touching it.

would be nice if the vehicle allowed you to drive off even if it didn't detect the keyfob (as it does now with comfort access) ....but it would continuosly scan for the keyfob while the vehicle is in motion and if it didn't detect it within a minute or so it would slow down the vehicle and shut it off leaving it stranded on the side of the road...

would've been a great "anti-car jacking" solution for those with comfort access..

only problem is what happens when you have it in your pocket but the battery is weak or dead??

the keyfob in the comfort access option is not rechargeable...

It is.... I remember reading somewhere in the manual that I should drive with the keyfob in the ignition to re-charge it - once every few months...

Nope. That's only with out Comfort Access you can recharge. The Comfort Access remote needs to have the battery changed.

Hmm, makes no sense to me... The regulat keyfob is always inserted, thus no point of making special note in the manual to ocassionally re-charge it by inserting... To the owners of the comfort access it is a useful note/minder.

Though Drod/Denalio are right, you make a good point - the keyfobs are only used when buttons are pressed and that's not going to drain it much. They will always be charged when using the vehicle anyway.

I'd like to know how often comfort access keyfobs are "drained"... only for a few seconds when near the vehicle & for starting up?

I love the fact that I can get of out of the car, lock the doors while having the engine running when running errands.

As for the keyfob battery, Whenever I find the keyfob unresponsive I always pop it into the slot and it comes out fine afterwards. I always thought it recharged

^ if you leave the engine running and touch the outside handles to lock, the doors lock but no alarm-arm sound, correct?

I stand corrected, Drod & Denalio are right, Comfort Access does NOT have rechargeable battery... Sorry for the confusion.
