Thanks for pointing out my error. But I thought cars in the US aren't going to have this option until 2009. I really hope you're right. I'm getting an 2008 now cuz I can't wait for the 2009.

Where is the OP from? Is CA = California? or Canada?

I guess MyInfo is available in Europe but not in the US...kind of sucks because I love gadgets and will like to have it. However, waiting until towards the end of the year to order a 2009 is kind of a stretch.

Hear ya. MyInfo would be a great feature to have. But for me, it's not worth waiting for 2009 (don't use Nav enough to justify that. Would be great for business people or people that travel alot).

CarLover2008, are you a member of BMWCCA? Members that have been active for over a year get a rebate when you buy/lease a new BMW. The rebate for the X5 is $1000! I joined a few months ago so won't qualify for the rebate. But a good fact to know.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

I personally am waiting for the 2009, as I expect to see the twin turbo six engine and red available as a color. Improved X-drive I give about a 50/50 chance.

I'm a current X3 owner but with kids on the way (well one due soon plus we have a 2 yr old labrador retriever who weighs 75 pounds and needs a little space) I'm starting to think ahead....will likely upgrade to the X5 when the time comes (probably 2 years from now).

When is the X5 slated to go through a "major overhaul" or body design? I am thinking we'll likely need to get a new car in 2++ plus years from now (which means I can probably wait until Fall 2010, for the 2011 model year).

Typically, each BMW model have a 7 year cycle before a MAJOR overhaul (body change). The current X5 (E70) is only in its second year of production. So you probably won't see it until 2013.

If you are getting a car in about 2++ years, you should probably wait for the "face-lifted" model. Just some minor refinements here and there.

At any rate, definitely look out for hybrid versions & twin turbo models to be introduced to the X5.

Thanks MTECH

I can't wait until 2013....I think it will be a 2010 or maybe 2011 model. When do you expect the twin turbos to roll out?

I hope they don't change it too much....the lines on the 2008 are very nice.

For me the big thing is having more space in the back seat and the cargo area....along with, of course, the big 'ol V8.

I seriously doubt that they will do a major overhaul in 4-5 years. BMW's aren't like Japanese cars where the product lifecycle is much shorter. But who knows, it could happen (just not likely).

Don't know about the twin turbos. Only a lot of speculation now. Optimistics are saying 2009. I'm thinking 2010 since the X6 was just introduced.

What will be interesting is what will happen to BMW's line if/when the US government mandates the higher MPG per car footprint. More Hybrids/diesels across the line, smaller more efficient engines, or more expensive BMW's? We'll just wait and see.

If you have to have the latest and greatest... Wait. The changes for 2009 will likely be more than cosmetic.
