Here's what I understand from when I ordered my '08 X5 3.0si.

The only way for you to get power folding mirrors is to order the Premium Package.

The Voice Command system (from Tech Package) allows you to control vehicle systems without taking your hands off the wheel. Essentially, you can use this system instead of using the iDrive knob to navigate iDrive. This means that anything you can do in iDrive w/ knob you can do with voice. If you have an integrated mobile phone (or a Bluetooth Phone and BMW Asssist w/ Bluetooth), you can operate your phone with voice commands.

With only BMW Assist and Bluetooth, operating the phone requires you to use the iDrive knob. Answering calls is easier, you simply press the 'telephone' button on the steering wheel.

I would recommend you get the the Premium Package to get the suite of doo-dads. Besides, the price of BMW Assist w/ Bluetooth and leather as stand alone options is close to the asking price for the package. The rest of the cost gives you lumbar, power folding mirrors, UGDO, .

If you're thinking about getting the navigation and PDC, get the TECH and get the rear view cam 'free'. PDC isn't accurate, but it does help. I had driven a 5er with the frond and rear PDC and it was awesome for parking in Korea.

With regards to the Rear Climate Package, my SA asked me "How often do you haul people in the back seat?" If the answer is less than 90%, there's no point. It's a $900 group of tech that won't be used. Convice him to give you factory tinted windows free, my guy did.

$1000 over invoice is not bad at all. Good luck.

Currently thinking of the Rear Climate, Cold Weather, ipod interface, and either PDC standalone or with the Tech package.

The BMW website mentioned Dual power outside mirrors as standard. Are they Heated and power folding?

The Tech package comes with voice activiation which allows dialing phone calls hands-free. How's that different than Bluetooth on the BMW Assist option?

We live in NYC so we'll be doing mostly parallel parking. Any experiences with how' the PDC and the rearview hold up in urban parking situations?

Also, any recommendations on dealers? I took a test drive at LifeQuality and they are quoting $1000 above invoice.

Thanks.

Thanks for the clarification. I guess I don’t need the BMW Assist since my phone is not Bluetooth compatible with the X5 and the phone itself already does voice activated dialing. I’ll be hauling kids in the back so RC is important. Same reason I'm opting for Leatherette.

I'm glad this was able to help. I agree with the durability that Leatherette presents when compared with the Dakota Leather. From what I've seen in the showrooms, the Leather is fairly resilient.

For me at least, I had no choice about the leather, I ordered the sports package which immediately required leather upholstery.

Again, good luck and welcome to X5 world.
