I bought my X5 in late October (among the first of the 08's made). I have over 10,000 miles on it. I have had no problems whatsoever. My X is a great car and has met most of my expectations. (As mentioned often on this forum, the back-up camera is awful).

The problems I have to be soon fixed by my dealer in Moscow, on my American brand new BMW E70 X5 steering wheel problems (squirks and hard too turn), that radiator at the front to be replaced.
What has been fixed the AC fluid was empty so it didnt have cold air when summer hit... The car has 12,000 Km now... Well I can tell you from my experience all BMW's are cars that give these gimmicks, the suspension is non existent in these cars thats why they do the the track so well... I love my BMW's but thats why I keep another rig my Mercedes-Benz |

I've driven my 2007 X5 4.8i for close to 10K with zero issues. I've got less electronic gizmos on mine as you have, though. Had a 2006 530ixT for 2 years, zero problems. Also 4 other BMW's with minimal problems. Mechanically, these cars are generally great. Electronically, issues can and will occur but not across the board. Guess I've been very lucky as I expect them but don't seem to get them. Sorry for your problems, though. Seems like you might be close to a lemon law issue though.

it all depends on the amount of technnology in each vehicle...
the more advanced and sophisticated the system, the more prone it is to problems...(and the more dificult it is to diagnose) i have so far only experieced a minor PDC switch issue...(which was replaced in a day) i have no other complaints about the X5.... even the camer is not as bad as most people are stating...(i didn't expect to see in the dark with it anyway..) in the long run i think things will work out for you... but if you do experience alot more issues... than yes, have them replace it, or look into the lemon law... make sure you document everything...

I haven't had any major issue with mine except for some rattles and subpar fitting quality here and there such as the b-pillar air vent cover. The plastic trim of the tailgate is also deplorable, so cheap and a source of rattle as they don't seem to put in any insulation material inside it. Also the fiber fenders and the hood gaps are not symmetrical left and right. I think BMW meticulous quality is gone.

Well I custom ordered the car and I waited for 6 months to get it. I'm in Indonesia where they only sell at most 100 X5 per year and they don't have many X5 lying around in the showrooms for us to choose.
The hood gaps might not bother most people. So I don't think I can reject the specially-ordered car just because of such imperfection. Besides some of the other X5 I saw in the showroom also had that problem. So I thought it was normal. I'll post some photos later. Quote:

seems like some of these problems are the result of lazy assembly line workers who really don't care how the car looks once its done...
these things are not design defects but things that need adjustment.. take her back to the shop to get it resolved... and demand perfection! remember, the squeaky wheel gets the oil!!!

all very low mileages reported in this thread. We'll see what happens once the 50K or more line is crossed. Let's hope for the best !
