It's simple market supply and demand. It's not just the X5, but rather all SUVs are hurting. The value of the X5 isnt really in the toilet.......if it was, BMW dealers would be offering $5000 cash back on top of the 0,9% financing!

Don't buy more room than you need, that's all I can say.

P.S- not all caps.

You are right about the supply and demand, most people don't want to buy gas guzzlers these days. Therefore, resale value on X5's (as well as other large SUV's) are down big time and BMW is selling a lot less SUV's than they were in the past. The only SUV with higher numbers in recent months than the previous year was the X6 and that is because BMW sold none of them last year on a month-to-month comparison.

I am not really sure how many times in recent history BMW has offered any cash back type incentives, so that may not be a good indicator as to how BMW SUV's are selling these days. It is hard to argue that the resale of our cars hasn't taken a big hit in the past 12 months and very obvious that the number are down.

I believe the 0.9% financing applies to all BMWs, not just X5s.

BMW typically hate to offer cash incentives as they feel it hurts their "image." That said, BMW does, on ocassion, offer cash dealer incentives (which the honest dealers pass along to the customers), and has done so rather consistently on the Z4 the past 2-3 years. If X5 sales decline significantly, they may become common on the X5 as well as the Z4.

DOH! I purchased my X5 3.0si the last week of June when the 2.9% financing was available. Now I see it's 0.9%. Bummer.

Regardless, I love the vehicle and am generally happy with the economy. I've found that driving style has a significant impact on economy. For example, my wife averages 18 mpg while I figure out how to get 21. Driving with economy in mind makes a difference.

I believe that this depends on your location.
I don't have figures but i keep seeing pre-owned X5's

Good for you. I average around 9 mpg in the city in my 4.8. Mostly bumper-to-bumper traffic or red lights on each block.
