Arrow X5 / BMW model changes for 2009/2010

X5: Like the 3-series, the X5 gets the 265-hp, 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engine, which is legal in all 50 states. The diesel X5 will be badged the X5 35d. In mid-’09, it’s likely that BMW will introduce an M version of this sport-utility vehicle.

Z4: The current Z4 sports car remains in production until early ’09 and will then be replaced by an all-new model that features a retractable hardtop in place of the current car’s folding softtop. BMW likely will offer naturally aspirated and twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engines, making about 230 and 300 horsepower, respectively. The slow-selling Z4 coupe (along with the M version of the coupe and roadster) will go quietly to its grave.

3-series: The sedan and wagon versions of BMW’s bestseller get an exterior makeover that consists of a new hood and revised front and rear fascias. Models fitted with iDrive get the latest update of the system. The sedan also will be available with a 265-hp, 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder turbo-diesel engine for the first time in North America. The coupe and convertible models soldier on unchanged.

7-series: A new version of the range-topping sedan should arrive here in the first quarter of 2009. Available in both long- and short-wheelbase forms, its new styling is a lot less polarizing than was its predecessor’s. Underhood is BMW’s 400-hp, twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 that debuted in the X6. Expect the 750i to be priced similarly to the outgoing model and feature the latest, greatest version of iDrive and a more sophisticated active steering system. The V-12–engined 760Li departs, at least for the time being.

Unchanged: M3, M5, M6, X3, X6,
1-series, 5-series, 6-series.

Dead: Alpina B7, Z4 coupe, Z4 M.

I may add:
1-series gets the new iDrive/hard drive based Navigation with 2009.
3-series coupe/M3 coupe will get facelift in 2nd half of 2009 for 2010 models.
M3 sedan gets facelifted like 3-series with new iDrive/hard drive based Navigation and LeMans blue exterior color replaces Sparkling graphite
5-series, M5, X5, X6 will get the new iDrive/hard drive based Navigation early 2009. And some new colors/trims (from X6) for X5.
X3: Already posted 2009 X3 details in X3 forum
Z4: we will see the pics of new Z4 before the current gen is dead. Production has to move to Germany for new Z4 therefore it will stop in US.

Too bad about the Z4 Coupe. Love that car.

The Z4 will turn-out to be a classic design I am betting. I have a 2004 and hope they have some good close-out deals on the last 2009 models. It might be time to consider a trade-up to an M version as a long-term keeper.

So, it looks like there is no TT I6 for the X5!

Unfortunately. But so glad I decided not to wait and see.

And with the obvious market trend of people reacting to gas prices, paying $1 more per gallon of diesel than gasoline doesn't sound all that promising for big sales. I'll take one at under invoice though.

True but the torque and higher mileage should offset the difference. I see only about 35 cents difference in cost for my area.

There should be a facelift for 2010 model year which could also add the TT I6. It would be a smart decision for BMW to do that since it adds more performance to the the 3.0 w/o sacrificing MPG.

35d is the new rig then, I was looking at the current .9% deal but to get a diesel would be great.
